Mid-Continent made every effort to obtain sufficient water from
GW-1 for testing of other parameters , as required. As a result cf

used with only limited success.
After repeated efforts, an ingenious and successful alternative was
devised. This required substantial effort on the part of Mid-
Continent personnel.
There is no indication of any problem(s) with water quality in the
GW-1 well .
The Act, as cited in NOV C-90-001 , requires the operator to:

a) Establish monitoring sites to record the effect of
the operations on the level and amount of such
water;
b) Maintain records of well logs and borehole data;

The division shall require such monitoring of surface and
groundwater quality, both on and off the site, as it
deems necessary to determine compliance by permittees
with the water quality provisions of this article.
The Regulations, as cited in NOV C-90-001 , require groundwater
monitoring:

Surface and Ground Water Monitoring
1) Ground water
a) Ground water levels, infiltration rates, subsurface
flow and storage characteristics, and the quality
of ground water shall be monitored in a manner
approved by the Division after consultation with the
Division of Water Resources to determine:
i) The effects of surface or underground mining
activities on the quantity and quality of water in
water systems in the permit area and adiacent area.-
and
The effect of surface mining activities on the
recharge capacity of reclaimed lands.
