Compliance With Mine Plan N - Support Facilities Not On-site <br /> N -Other N - Special Categories Of Mining <br /> N -Processing Waste N -Topsoil <br /> COMMENTS <br /> INTRODUCTION -This was a partial inspection of the North Thompson Creek Mine conducted by Brock Bowles <br /> and Sandra Brown of the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety.No representative from <br /> MINREC, Inc. was present.Weather conditions were sunny and warm and the ground was dry. <br /> HYDROLOGIC BALANCE -Rule 4.05 Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, <br /> 4.05.6, Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10, Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water <br /> Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Drainage —Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; <br /> Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br /> The water discharge from Portals 41 and 43 was clear. The long pond had standing water and appeared to <br /> be functioning properly. Ponds T1 and T2 appeared to be working correctly and the berm was stable. The water <br /> was directed from Pond T2 to Pond P9 which was full. The water from P9 was in the overflow ditch but was not <br /> flowing. <br /> Water was not flowing in the ditch between Pond T2 and the outfall. The inlet pipe to the ditch contained a large <br /> amount of sediment. <br /> A culvert between Pond P9 and the outfall 001 is damaged and has sharp edges exposed. The culvert is shown on <br /> Drawings D-2-5 and D-4-6 in Section F-F. Water does not appear to be flowing through the culvert and Drawing <br /> D-4-6 indicates that it is capped. Please fix this culvert as it is a safety hazard to livestock and people (photo 1). <br /> ROADS —Rule 4.03 Construction 4.03.l(3)/4.03.2(3) Drainage 4.03.l(4)/4.03.2(4) Surfacing and <br /> Maintenance4.03.1(5) and(6)/4.03.2(5) and(6) Reclamation 4.03.l(7)/4.03.2(7): <br /> The main gate was tied shut with a wire and the access road was in good condition and passable. <br /> REVEGETATION—Rule 4.15 Vegetative Cover; Timing: <br /> There are some thistle plants near the west end of the long pond that need to be treated(photo 2). <br /> Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1 <br /> Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2 <br /> Page 2 of 4 <br />
