Mid-Continent Resources, Inc.
PRODUCERS OF THE FAMOUS COAL BASIN COKING COAL
MID-CONTINENT RESOURCES,INC. 201 Centennial Street
Suite 406 Telephone:
625 I'LAINFIELD ROAD-SUITE 220
WILLOWBROOK,ILLINOIS 60521 Glenwood Springs, Colorado 81601 (303) 945-4958
April 9, 1991
RECEIVED
Mr . Dan Mathews APR 1 1 1991
(lined Land Reclamation Division
1313 Sherman Street, Room 21S Min(n.d Land
Denver, Colorado 80203 Reclamation Divis!r)n
Dear Mr . Mathews:
In line with our meeting in your office on March 29th on the
subject of Mid-Continent Resources ' reclamation cost
calculations, I am submitting the enclosed revised calculations .
I have reviewed each of the 1S task calculations in your
November 27, 1990 "revised preliminary estimate" and re-
calculated those that I believed were not correct . Several of
your task calculations differed with those we agreed upon in
1986, but since the final cost amounts were reasonable I accepted
them as they were . I have added four additional tasks that
address the backfilling of areas that didn ' t seem to be addressed
in your calculations .
You will note that I went ahead and used the D9L dozer For
moving most of the materials as you did . Substituting the 08
dozer, graders or other smaller equipment will probably be more
efficient and somewhat cheaper in that environment, but will not
change the overall cost estimate substantially . I did use a job
performance factor for the D9L of .LJ9 instead of your .28 ❑r .q3
as I explained in my March 29 letter .
There are still several areas in the calculations that I
would like to review once the weather in Coal Basin allows us to
visit all the areas and update our information . These include
the actual amounts of topsoil available for distribution, the
actual average width of the haul roads as opposed to the present
assumption that they average 55 ' in width, the actual amounts of
topsoiling and reseeding of the coal refuse piles and the actual
number of acres that have been disturbed in connection with the
Sutey refuse pile.
Please call me if you have any questions on this submittal .
Si Ferely ,
Geor e E . gear
Dir .
