b . Minimal surface disturbance in the exploration
area since the only activity besides environmental baseline
data collection will be drilling shallow test holes to
determine depth of the alluvium . Only a small truck mounted
drill rig will be required to drill the 2" tb 3" test holes
to maximum depths of 105 ' .
7 . Narrative description of exploration activities
Several small (2"-3") holes will be drilled throughout
the two areas to determine the best bedrock condition for
the tunnel portals . Baseline hydrologic , vegetation and
soils data will be collected for use in developing the
portal face-up and yard construction and reclamation plans .
See sketch (Attachment 3) of proposed portal facilities .
8 . Endangered or Threatened Species
There are no known endangered or threatened species in
the proposed exploration areas .
When preparing the Coal Basin Mine Permit Application
in 1979-81, studies of the mine plan area, of which Section
24 is a part, identified no plants that are included in
state or federal lists of endangered or threatened species
(Vol . 6, Chap . II , Sec . H, Page 11) , nor any such fish or
wildlife that inhabit the area (Vol . 6, Chap III , Sec . I ,
Page 31) .
