Box 158
Carbondale, Colorado 81623
Re: Slide Area Above No. 3 Mine Haulroad, File No. C-81-017
Dear Mr. Bowman:
After my last inspection of the site I have several concerns over problems
that could arise from further movement of the slide over the No. 3 Mine Haul-
road. These concerns are:
1. Further slide movement in the Spring of 1987 could cause ponding in
the creek bed between the haulroad culvert and the rock dust bin
culvert. As slide movement generally coincides with high to moderate
flow of the mountain streams , this condition could lead to overtopping
of the creek bed. How will flow be assured?
2. The culvert under the haulroad was originally designed to pass the
25-year event flow of the Dutch Creek Tributary. Is the capacity still
Dresent due to siltation? If not, what methods will be used to
ensure capacity?
Call if you wish to discuss these questions or if further clarification is
needed.
Sincerely,
 OV t
Candace M.
