Dear Steve,
I have enclosed, for your information, a copy of the Resolution
#91-13 passed by the Pitkin County Commissioners on Tuesday. This
is the Resolution that was FAXed to you and that we discussed on
the telephone. Please note that this Resolution does not take
effect until after a public hearing which was scheduled last
night at Mid-Continent's request. That hearing was set for March
12 , 1991. Although I did not have a chance to incorporate your
comments into the Resolution prior to last night' s action, the
March 12 hearing will provide an opportunity to further amend the
Resolution. I hope that the meeting in Glenwood Springs on March
8 will result in a mechanism whereby we can deal with Coal Basin
while it remains idled in a way that satisfies all of our
technical, environmental and procedural concerns. We can then
proceed to the March 12 hearing with the intention of enacting a
Permit Amendment that will dovetail with State actions and those
of other agencies.
Thanks for your assistance on this matter. I look forward to
cussing it further with you on the 8th. Please let me know in
the meantime if you have questions.
