/AII
September 25, 2012
✓T.C. Waite
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
RE: All Rite Paving & Redi -Mix, Inc.
Sharp Gravel Pit M- 2012 -036
1/
Dear Ms. Waite,
272U12
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION
MINING AND SAFETY
Please accept the following exhibits and clarifications_ in_resnonse to the Division adequacy
review dated August 7, 2012 and subsequent comments.
6.4.4 Exhibit D — Mining Plan: The following was added to the second paragraph.
Earthmoving will be performed using bulldozers and /or scrapers depending on depth of plant
growth material and overburden. Mining will be performed with loaders. Bulldozers may be
utilized during mining to maintain slopes and manage stockpiles when necessary.
In response to comments received by Colorado State Historic Preservation Office dated August
17, 2012, the following paragraph was added to Exhibit D. The addition was reviewed and
approved by Mr. Mark Tobias on August 31, 2012.
Comments received August 17, 2012 from Colorado State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO)
indicate the southern portion of the subject property is located adjacent to a formally recognized
segment of the Santa Fe Trail. As indicated in the mine plan map, the southern portion of the
property is not included in the proposed affected area and this portion of the trail will be avoided.
However, due to the meandering nature of historic trails there is a potential for associated
features or artifacts to be present within the proposed affected area. In the event that an
unidentified archaeological resource is identified during the mining operation, extraction will cease
in the vicinity of the discovery and the SHPO will be immediately notified. Mining will resume in
the vicinity of the discovery only upon receipt of SHPO approval.
6.4.17 Exhibit Q — Proof of Mailing Notices to County Commissioners and Soil Conservation
District: Return receipt cards are provided.
EnViironrmieneal //, IlternatiiVess Ilnc,
1107 Main Street, Canon City, CO 81212
www.envalternatives.com • e -mail: eai @bresnan.net
Phone: 719- 275 -8951 • Fax: 719- 275 -1715
