The Dutch Creek Diversion Project was completed by
contractors to the Division of Minerals and Geology as a part of on-going reclamation at this now
inactive coal mine. Excavation of the channel and placement of rip rap has been completed as
designed.
In our June 5, 1998 correspondence, we indicated that the Dutch Creek Flume, which is now no
longer functional, would be filled during excavation of the diversion. This task was not
undertaken during construction of the diversion. It is anticipated that filling of the flume will
occur simultaneously with other reclamation tasks yet to be completed in this area. We currently
anticipate that this work will be accomplished in 1999 or 2000.
Thank you for your assistance with this project.
Sincerely,
Steven G. Renner
Project Manager
Division of Minerals and Geology
2148 Broadway, No. C-5
Grand Junction Colorado 81503
970-241-0336
cc: David Bucknam
Cheryl Linden
