STATEMENT OF MUTUAL BENEFIT AND E E <br /> The Cooperator has a large mine clo ure p a o b t a nd Federal lands in the <br /> State of Colorado,which addresses t e r o b n e nd inactive mines. The <br /> Forest Service is a land man e a ncy re o ibl fo National Forest system lands <br /> and is dedicated to the man ge nt t n i res rces including monitoring stream <br /> conditions which may c d y a e mi entries, roads, Mine Bench <br /> Outslopes, waste p" s an ci ry a "i ' s wh' h drain water into receiving streams. <br /> It is of mutual in fo h i to ooperate in the stabilization through revegetation of <br /> the Mine Bench Outsl e b to r the Coal Basin Mine entry areas since these sites <br /> are within the National r s tem boundaries. It is of mutual interest for both parties to <br /> monitor erosion and se d' ent neration from the Outslopes in order to determine the <br /> relative impact of these mi ' related features to receiving streams. It is also beneficial for <br /> both the Forest Service and Cooperator to construct sediment barriers at the toe of the <br /> slopes in order to lessen the impact of the water draining into receiving streams. <br /> In consideration of the above premises, the parties agree as follows: <br /> C. FOREST SERVICE SHALL: <br /> 1. Provide the cooperator$50,000 to be used towards reducing sediment contribution from <br /> mining related facilities to Coal and Dutch Creeks by revegetating the Mine Bench <br /> Outslopes associated with Mine 1 East, Mine 1 Storage Bench, Mine 3 East and, if <br /> Page 1 of 7 <br />
