12. How will the project be sustained (funded) in future years.
This project will be conducted over the course of two construction seasons. The level of
funding, and commitment of services is sufficient to accomplish the project goals during
this period of time. Subsequent to 1999, it is possible that revegetation experts from the
Division of Minerals and Geology, and possibly from other agencies as well, will be
available to periodically observe the site, and monitor the success of the project. It is
also possible that a limited amount of funding for maintenance of the project area may
be available after 1999 through resources made available to the Division of Minerals and
Geology.
13. In what specific ways will state funds be utilized (purchase of equipment,
cost-share agreements, etc.)?
The Division of Minerals and Geology administers the reclamation funds utilized at Coal
Basin via a Reclamation Account established with the Office of the State Treasurer. All
funds received for the purpose of noxious weed control will be earmarked as such, and
deposited in the Reclamation Account. The Account will be available for audit, should
the desire arise. Minerals and Geology staff will draft a weed control project
description, develop an Invitation for Bids document which will contain the project
specifications, award the bid and administer the contract.
Any grant moneys received by this project will be used to leverage funding and support
from the partners in the project. Specifically, the state funds will be applied to on-the-
ground weed management efforts consisting of labor and materials for the treatment
efforts.
