Colorado Noxious Weed Management Fund Narrative Report Requirements
Format: Attached is an example of the format for your report. In addition, your report should be
type-written, single-spaced with conventional 1" margins. For the purposes of demonstrating this
format, the attachment has been limited to one page. There are no limitations on the length of your
report as we would like to learn as much as we can from your efforts. Please be as specific and
thorough as possible throughout your report as this information will be used to familiarize others
NI ith the work you have carried out and how the fund has been utilized to assist Colorado's
communities in their weed management efforts.
Purpose: Describe, in the broadest sense, the purpose of the project for which funds were allocated.
For example, perhaps your goal was to encourage a coordinated weed management effort through
the development of a cooperative weed management area; to ensure the eradication of particular
species by providing additional resources to a community; to develop a more successful and
effective county weed management program by enhancing the county's ability to manage or map
noxious species; or to encourage more landowners to manage noxious weeds by developing and
disseminating additional educational materials to the general public or specific audiences.
Partners: Identify the partners involved in the project(s). Include all governmental organizations
including local, state, and federal partners as well as private landowners, non-profit organizations,
and private businesses. Your list should also include any additional funding sources such as the
National Fish & Wildlife Foundation or local Habitat Partnership Program.
Specific use of funds: Describe exactly how the funds have been utilized. For example, perhaps
11.1 ds were uscU to :11',e additional staff u, t-un V out specific field duties such as eradicating
a species from remote backcountry areas; to purchase replacement or new equipment to enhance the
county's ability to manage noxious weeds or provide new services to citizens; or to design and
publish educational materials.
Progress: Describe the progress you have made and the specific activities you have completed.
Include information regarding your integrated weed management efforts, the types of educational
outreach efforts made (through the media, tours, or schools), and any other pertinent information
about what has happened in the project area. Specific number of acres managed, acres mapped,
citizens reached, landowners assisted, and other statistical information should be included.
Project status: Has the project been completed or will it continue? For how long? Are there any
funds remaining from the Colorado Noxious Weed Management Fund? If so, when do expect to
have completely spent them?
Evaluation: Please describe the lessons you have learned or have been reinforced from both the
successes and failures of your project. You should explore why you believe your project has or has
not encountered difficulties. For example, perhaps you learned or demonstrated a successful means
of eradicating a specific species by means of thorough searching, mapping, and management
efforts. But perhaps your efforts to contain and eradicate a species have so far failed because your
efforts to involve all landowners have been unsuccessful. Describe your outreach efforts and how
landowners have responded.
