The funds will be used to finance
construction of two projects designed to remediate hazards at the Coal
Basin Mine which threaten public health and safety, and which pose
environmental risks.
The Division is proposing to construct a new stream channel for Dutch
Creek in the vicinity of the wash plant, and to alleviate the potential
land slide to occur from a portion of the Old Refuse Pile. The stream
channel construction project is our highest priority. There is no
money available from the reclamation bond to perform either of these
projects.
Enclosed are descriptions of the two proposed Coal Basin Mine
reclamation projects, and a location map. The final stages of project
development will be undertaken in the late spring and early summer of
1997 . Construction will begin in late 1997 or 1998 .
Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or comments.
Sincer
-a
Michael B Long
Director
CC: David Bucknam
Steven Renner
Cheryl Linden
