Yosemite Street, Bldg 758
Aurora, CO 80010
Dear Mr. Rumery:
The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology is pleased to submit the Coal Basin Watershed
Improvement Project for consideration for the 1997 summer project season. Our agency has
had a variety of experience working with volunteer organizations. Mined land reclamation
projects have always received very positive participation from volunteers. The environmental
challenges and locations of projects provide a wide range of educational opportunities for
volunteers.
The Coal Basin area has not been accessible to the public due to the mining activities and
landownership of the past. Local citizens and groups are looking forward to preserving and
providing recreational opportunities for the Crystal River Valley. We hope that the National
Civilian Community Corps can help us achieve a major mined land reclamation objective and
also enhance community participation as well.
We look forward to talking with you as you undertake your review.
Sincerely, -
l r A4 —/L
G
Steve Renner Loretta Pineda
Project Manager Public Information Officer
