"QUESTIONS COMMONLY ASKED BY SPONSORS" •• <br /> What do you look for in a project? An AmeriCorps Program <br /> We look for projects that could not be accomplished without the resources our teams provide. National <br /> We're interested in projects of lasting and significant impact, or what we call "sustainability", Civilian <br /> that enhance community relationships. Routine maintenance and trash cleanup activities, by <br /> themselves, are usually not considered appropriate tasks. Community <br /> What else should I consider when evaluating the project and the appropriateness of an Corps <br /> NCCC team? Central Region Campus <br /> Once we have assessed sustainability, our prnnary concerns when reviewing a project are: <br /> •Is there enough work for 15 people 2 <br /> •Is the work appropriate and are the project goals clear? <br /> •Are the necessary tools/supplies available by the start date? <br /> • Will there be on-site supervision provided by the sponsor(or subcontractor)2 <br /> • What extent of training will be provided by the sponsor2 <br /> If these basic needs arc satr.tfied, the likelihood for receiving a Team is improved <br /> Do you have different expectations for a "spike"? <br /> For every project we assess sustainability, trorl<load, availability of supplic.s and on-sire supervision when a <br /> team is asked to travel more than 90 codes to work of o project (a.k a. ''spike') we nim,ask you, the.sponsor, to <br /> help us provide housing and food for the duration of the project. This can he done in a variety of creative wins. <br /> partnering with other local groups or agencies to get supplies and lodging donated, direct financial coverage of <br /> costs incurred, or by si mply providing the team W1111 access to cooking and sanitary facilities. Remember, our <br /> teams have the capabilaw to canip ifmore permoncit housing is not available If you cannot provide housing and <br /> food, it does not preclude 1 ou from receiving a icarn However, our spike budget is very limited, and project <br /> o <br /> approval sometimes depends n the extent of sponsor assistance. <br /> If I think the NCCC is appropriate for the project, and I feel I can meet basic requirements, what's the next <br /> step in the process? <br /> Contact the Program Department to request a project packet which includes guidelines for submitting a project <br /> proposal. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. Once you return the proposal, one of fire project <br /> directors will review if and contact you with any questions or concerns we may have. When the proposal is <br /> complete, the coordinator submits it for review by both the Regional Program Director and National Off ce. <br /> Together they authorize approval for teams to be assigned to projects.
