Mined land
reclamation projects have always received very positive participation from your volunteers.
The challenges and locations of projects have always provided a variety of opportunities for
your organization.
The Coal Basin area has not been accessible to the public due to the mining activities and
landownership of the past. Local citizens and groups are looking forward to preserving and
providing recreational opportunities for the Crystal River Valley. We are excited to see that
the Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers affiliate is active in outdoor projects this year.
Perhaps this project would fit into a more regional volunteer opportunity approach.
We hope we can again cooperate on a major reclamation project. We look forward to
talking with you as you undertake your review.
Sincerely,
Loretta Pmeda Steve Renner
Public Information Officer DMG Project Manager
