RE: Annual Report,Coal Basin Sediment Pond Reclamation Projects Stormwater Permit(COR-040208)
Dear Mr.Moore:
Enclosed,please find the annual report for the above referenced stormwater permit. This permit is specific
to reclamation of previously permitted sediment ponds located on the former mine site. The NPDES
permits for these ponds have been terminated by the Colorado Department of Public Health and the
Environment. This report covers the year ending December 31, 2001. The annual report form is attached
to the narrative which follows.
The Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board forfeited the reclamation bond of the former operator of this
site in 1992. Therefore,the Division of Minerals and Geology(Division) is performing reclamation of the
Coal Basin Mine as required by the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act.
In order to facilitate the completion of reclamation at the site,the Division obtained the subject permit.
Reclamation construction is being accomplished in conformance with the stormwater permit requirements.
