Reclamation is being conducted by the Division
of Minerals and Geology through independent contractors at a now inactive coal mine in western
Pitkin County. The dewatering discharge application addressed the minor amount of ground
water encountered during construction of a stream channel which was built as a part of on-going
reclamation activities. Construction of the facility to which the dewatering permit application
applies is now complete.
The application requests that a water quality sample be obtained and submitted. The sample was
obtained, and the analytical results are enclosed.
Please contact me if you have questions or comments.
Sincerely,
Steven G.
