Permittee:
Permit #:
Operation Name:
Anniversary Date:
WHITEWATER BUILDING MATERIALS CORP.
M- 1977 -129
WHITEWATER 500 PIT
09/22/012
PAGE 2
for an adjoining mine. The Plant Site in Stages W, Z and 2
is still in use (tan). A portion of Stage 2 - PART A owned
by Whitewater Building Materials remains unmined on the
east side of the Plant Site (tan). We will continue to
remove stockpiled material from Stage W as needed.
Whitewater submitted TR -05 regarding Phase 2 Part A & B
reclamation and was approved on January 30, 2012.
Please refer to Map 2 of 2 when reviewing the following
information. Mining continued in Stage 3 on the 14.3 acres
that was already stripped (Yellow). New stripping was done
in Stage 3 (Yellow with hash) to expose approximately 5
acres and the material was placed in Stage 3 (Brown) to be
shaped later. Topsoil along the north side of the excavated
area remains undisturbed. This berm serves two purposes,
as a topsoil pile and an MSHA safety berm. The 6.00 acre
raw material storage area in the northwest part of Stage 6
is still being used. The main processing plant is located
on the Industrial Site at 1360 Coffman Road. The remaining
overburden stockpile area east of the stripped area is
still in use (brown). This material will be used to
reclaim the slopes and resoil the above water areas as
reclamation progresses in this stage.
(2) The riprap armoring was completed in late 2011 on the
landowners inlet structure in Phase 2, Part B. No new
reclamation was done in the areas South of the river this year.
See Map Sheet 2 of 2. No new sloping was done in the mined
parts of Stage 3 - PART B. No additional reclamation is required
at this time on areas north of the river.
We estimate there is approximately 48,000 yards of overburden
stored in Stage 6 (not on map) and another 20,000 yards stored
in Stage 3 - PART B (brown). These piles are in a constant state
of flux with material being added and removed as needed. The
settling ponds are still being used to clean process water (dark
blue). Weed control continued this year in the areas around
Phase 2- PARTS A & B and Stage 3 - PART A. We sprayed Knapweed
and White Top from April thru August in 2012 with water soluble
2 -4 -D and Curtail'. A mowing program was also used to aid in
control. This is still an uphill battle since there is little
or no control taking place on properties surrounding the mine
