I too enjoyed meeting you and Reid and look forward to next year at the Ophir Lode mine. I understand that Bob Oswald of the State of Colorado has requested information as to the control of the Noxious Weeds at the mine site. The following is intended to fulfill that request. If it does not, please let me know and I will be happy to add to it. On September 10, 2010 I accompanied you, Wayne Giesy, and Reid Giesy to the Ophir Lode mine. In route we met Bob Oswald and he joined us for the last part of the journey. 1 drove the last approximate % mile over the permitted road with my ATV sprayer. At the mine entrance area I found the reported infestation of Yellow toadflax and Canada thistle. I flagged the perimeter of the infection and then sprayed it with a combination of Telar and Tordon. My goal was to apply the combination at 2 Qt. /acre of Tordon and 2 Oz /acre Telar. (Please see the attached copy of the invoice for additional details information required by the State of Colorado). 1 choose to use a combination of Telar and Tordon based on recommendations of various individuals, applicators and Colorado State Extension Service. These two chemicals are labeled for control of Yellow toadflax and Canada thistle. I have been using this combination for at least the last 10 years and found it to be the most effective of any chemical, or combination, 1 have tried on Yellow toadflax. Yellow toadflax is extremely had to eliminate and usually requires multiple treatments. Canada thistle is not nearly as hard to kill and so we should expect good control with this mix before that of Yellow toadflax. If additional research recommends a differentchemical, or combination, I will certainly consider it for future treatments.
