The inspection was a
complete inspection and an OSM complete oversight. There were a few minor issues noted in the report that need to be
addressed. First, the mine ID sign was down at the main gate. I placed it by the gate but it needs to be fixed. Second, the
question came up regarding the cleaning of the Long Pond, in particular, the cleaning and proper disposal of the iron
precipitate. Is there a plan and /or timeframe for this cleaning'? Please let me know. Finally, there were a few records that
need to be updated, as noted on the records checklist. The most important of these is the insurance certificate. The
insurance at the North Thompson Creek Mine expired on 1 September 2012. There is no copy of a new certificate on file
at the Division's office. Please forward a copy of the new insurance certificate to Brock ASAP. Thanks.
Please contact me if you have any questions or comments regarding this inspection report.
James R Stark
Environmental Protection Specialist
Colorado Department of Natural Resources
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
(303)866 -3567 X8145
www. mining. state. co.us
