SOUTHFIELD SILT <br />There was less than an inch of rain at the Southfield Mine site on September 12, 2012. This storm water <br />runoff deposited additional silt just inside the green gates on County Road 92. <br />Fresh vehicle ruts can be seen in this picture taken on September 13, 2012. There was also silt <br />deposition outside the green gates on neighboring property. An unusual result of the rather gentle and <br />slow rain is that the coal in the silt was allowed to float and deposit on the surface. <br />There is additional history of County Road 92. Dorchester reconstructed this road at the time of their <br />initial mining. Coal was produced and washed in the preparation plant, but the refuse pile was not then <br />ready to receive the wash plant reject. Dorchester utilized this reject waste as fill on the County Road <br />and it was a way to get rid of the waste prior to the refuse pile construction. Since The Corley Co. had <br />
