Western Gravel E &P Waste Disposal Facility October 2011 <br />CQA/QCP Page 8 of 19 <br />The test methods and frequencies to be followed during the installation of the liner materials are provided <br />in the following table. <br />HDPE LINER CONSTRUCTION CQA <br />GEOMEMBRANE PROPERTY <br />TEST METHOD <br />TEST FREQUENCY <br />DESTRUCTIVE SEAM TESTING <br />Shear Strength/Shear Elongation at <br />Break <br />ASTM D 6392 <br />1 per 750 lineal feet of seam <br />Peal Adhesion <br />« <br />Peal Separation <br />« <br />Trial Seams <br />ASTM D 6392 <br />At the beginning of each shift and <br />when ambient temperature > 104 °F <br />measured 6- inches above the <br />geomembrane surface per machine <br />and operator and with each change in <br />tem > 20 °F, and every 5 hours <br />NONDESTRUCTIVE SEAM <br />TESTING <br />Vacuum Box <br />ASTM D5641 <br />Continuous over full length <br />Air Pressure <br />ASTM D5820 <br />The responsibilities of the CQA Engineer include but are not limited to the following items. <br />Pre - construction: <br />• Prior to delivery of any geomembrane to the site, the installer will provide the CQA Engineer with <br />test results conducted by the geomembrane manufacturer (manufacturer), including published product <br />properties and specifications for the HDPE material including type of resin and origin and list of <br />ingredients for the HDPE formulation and the quality control plan that the manufacturer will be using <br />for the membrane being supplied <br />• All geomembrane will be installed with manufacturers recommendations <br />• All geomembrane must be inspected by the manufacturer prior to shipping to the site. Geomembrane <br />must be protected during shipping and after it arrives at the site from excessive heat or cold, puncture, <br />cutting or other damaging or deleterious conditions. Materials determined to be severely damaged <br />shall be rejected and removed from the site. Minor damage and defects shall be repaired by the <br />geomembrane installer (installer) <br />• Prior to installation, a preconstruction meeting must be held. At a minimum the client, CQA <br />Engineer and the installer must be present and the installer will provide the CQA Engineer with seam <br />layout drawings. A seam numbering system will be agreed upon by the installer and the CQA <br />NWCC INC. <br />
