control/practice factors; slope measurements from the existing topography maps submitted
annually by SCC; and vegetation monitoring data from the SL -5 application for the Phase II
bond release and Extended Reference areas. Several slopes in the reclamation area were
individually modeled and then averaged and compared to a weighted average of the extended
reference areas. The calculations, presented in Table 3, indicate that sediment delivery from the
mined areas is approximately equal to that of the adjacent undisturbed areas.
Table 4 - Division's RUSLE Calculations
Area*
A
R
K
LS
C
P
SIIPM -13A
0.06502
30
0.24
2.15
0.003
.35
V -Ditch 4
0.06653
30
0.24
2.20
0.003
.35
Upper Ditch 1
0.06713
30
0.24
2.22
0.003
.35
SIIPM -8
0.05988
30
0.24
1.98
0.003
.35
V -Ditch 3
0.06653
30
0.24
2.20
0.003
.35
V -Ditch 1
0.06553
30
0.24
2.20
0.003
.35
V -Ditch 5
0.08618
30
0.24
2.85
0.003
.35
Average
0.06826
tons /acre /yr
% Area
Sage
.1056
30
0.2
2.20
.008
1
17
0.017952
Mtn Brush
.06003
30
0.23
1.45
0.006
1
83
0.498249
Average
Arithmetic
0.08282
Weighted
0.06778
tons/acre/ r
tons/acre/ r
* indicates area within named drainage watershed
Observations made during the June 12, 2011 bond release inspection, as well as observations
made during previous inspections, indicated that the vegetation on the reclaimed slopes had
stabilized the soil. There was no major erosional instability observed. The Division's field
observations corroborate SCC's hydrologic monitoring results that the total suspended solids
mean and maximum concentrations were lower than mean and maximum concentrations for
a comparable adjacent non -mined area.
Seneca II Mine Page 11 September 10, 2012
Phase 11 Bond Release
