Site Reclamation Activity <br /> April 1996 - March 1997 <br /> Page 3 <br /> 5) treatment of water discharge from the portal along with <br /> diverted Cement Creek water according to the CDPS Permit for <br /> this site. Treatment included periodic cleaning of the <br /> settling ponds with a mudcat dredge and tanker trucks. The <br /> material removed was hauled to the Mayflower Mill - Tailings <br /> Pond #4 . <br /> There were no permit exceedances during the 1996 reporting <br /> year. <br /> 6) monitoring and maintenance of vegetated areas. <br /> Activities planned for 1997 are; <br /> 1) annual site cleanup. <br /> 2) maintenance and possibly improvement of stormwater drainage <br /> controls. <br /> 3) maintenance and operation of the water treatment system <br /> including the Cement Creek diversion in compliance with the <br /> CDPS Permit for this discharge. <br /> 4) monitoring and maintenance of revegetated areas. <br /> TERRY TUNNEL AREA - Plate No. 2 <br /> During the 1996 reporting year, no additional acreage was disturbed <br /> or reclaimed. The 1. 65 acres that were planted in 1995 exhibited <br /> spotty growth. <br /> Activity at this site consisted of; <br /> 1) operation of the water treatment plant from early June to mid- <br /> July when portal discharge was stopped and injection of water <br /> and alkaline material into the mine pool was started. This <br /> project was included under TR-19. <br /> 2) installation of a ventilation system for bulkhead inspection <br /> and operation of the water and alkaline injection system. <br /> 3) setup, operation and removal of equipment for the water and <br /> alkaline injection system. <br /> 4) cleaning of the settling ponds after cessation of water <br /> treatment activity and use of the ponds for spill containment <br /> during operation of the water and alkaline injection system. <br /> Activities planned for 1997 are; <br /> 1) inspection and monitoring of the tunnel bulkhead. <br /> 2) monitoring and maintenance of the planted side-slopes. <br />
