The company, Stone Canyon Quarry LLC, is owned by <br />the property owners, 2 of which live in the house on the property and plan <br />on living there into retirement. <br />1 The removal of moss rock is not disruptive to the land. In most cases <br />the area will reclaim itself the first year. This property was close to the <br />early town of Noland and has numerous abandoned prospecting holes and <br />small sandstone quarries. These historic disturbances resulted in the <br />dispersal of stone on the surface. Over time lichen has grown on this rock <br />becoming what is known and valued as "moss" rock. The removal of this <br />rock will either expose a new layer of rock to start the process again or <br />provide exposed soil for growth of native vegetation to support wildlife. <br />Any dips or swales resulting from the removal or larger slabs or boulders <br />will not be out of character with the surrounding surface. <br />2 (a,b,c,d,e,f) As the land owners, the travel path for equipment has been <br />chosen to provide access to the western portion of the property for on- <br />going tree thinning and fire mitigation as time and money allow. It is the <br />desire of the land owners that this access is permanent. <br />There is no plan to remove topsoil, thus no plan to segregate, stabilize or <br />compact it. <br />There is no plan to remove forbs, shrubs or trees as a result of moss rock <br />gathering but there will be concurrent thinning for fire mitigation. <br />
