Farrell :
The purpose of this letter is to address clarifications requested
on information submitted in the annual report , su mi Information
stipulated in Amendment No. 3 , and to update you on problem areas
and possible solutions prior to the upcoming construction season.
Your comments will be appreciated .
ANNUAL REPORT:
(1) American Tunnel Portal Area:
The waste added to the American Tunnel refuse/waste rock
dump was generated from ore passes and a runaround driven on
Main Level . This development work is complete at this time,
and very little waste will be added to the surface dump in
the near future. Any development work done in the lower
portion of the mine requires the waste to be brought to the
surface for disposal as it cannot be handled underground.
This type of development work will occur periodically and
will be addressed in a technical revision submittal . This
technical revision will address the waste already added to
the waste dump in addition to possible future deposition.
We are presently working on a plan (for submittal) to be
implemented this year . Attached are acid base analysis
results for waste deposited on the dump. They show a
significant potential for acid production that we will
address through mitigation and/or monitoring in the
technical revision submittal .
