The NRCS does not recommend using <br />fertilizer. However, the operator may choose to use 40 lbs of <br />Nitrogen and 40 lbs of Potassium (P per acre to enhance <br />growth, if test results show fertilizer is necessary. <br />SEEDBED PREPARATION <br />When mining is complete on a section of lake shore and the <br />soils have been spread, the surface will be smoothed of large <br />clods and worked until moderately fine. The surface will be left <br />fairly rough where seed is to be broadcast. If fertilizer is <br />applied it will be spread at this time and tilled into the <br />seedbed. <br />SEEDING TIME <br />The grass seed mixture will be planted at one of two times. <br />If fall planting is done, the grass seed will be planted before <br />the first freeze (about the time Winterwheat is planted). If <br />spring planting is done, it will be in late April or May. The <br />time of planting will be controlled by when the resoiled areas <br />are ready for planting, weather permitting. <br />GRASSES <br />This seed mixture was prepared by the NRCS for use at the <br />The number of Pounds -Live Seed (PLS) shown are from Mr. Scotts <br />recommendations shown in EXHIBIT I /J. This mixture contains <br />native grasses found on the property and adjoining areas. Using <br />this mixture will provide approximately 48.31 seeds per square <br />foot, which is greater than the 20 seed per sq ft recommended by <br />the S C S in their Technical Note Paper "Colorado Agronomy Note NO. 61" . <br />
