MINING PLAN EXHIBIT D (cont)
disturbed by pre -law mining operations where no soils exist at
this time. They are shown on the soils map as Water (W) or
Gravel Pits (GP) .
Of the 46.83 acres ± in the permit area, 5.88 acres ± will
be resoiled and revegetated as discussed in EXHIBIT E - RECLAMA-
TION PLAN. There will be sufficient quantities of growth medium
available to reclaim the disturbed lands to their pre ent condi-
tion. The growth medium in this area may not be of high quality,
but when salvaged and replaced are representative of what is
there now. The growth medium stockpiles will be located so as to
reduce the haul distances when reclamation starts. See MAP
EXHIBIT C -1 for the approximate location of the areas discussed
in this text.
MINING PLAN
This pit will be operated year- around by McAtee Construction
Company, weather permitting, as a specification aggregates supply
for their own use or for sale on the open market. This parcel is
broken into three distinct areas; the area to be mined; the old
mine /Plant Site area and an area associated with the Edwards -Gill
Drainage ditch (abandoned). It will be a three stage mining
operation located on 46.83 ac. ± south of the South Platte River
in Morgan County. MAP EXHIBIT C -1 - MINING PLAN MAP, delineates
the proposed mining operation and shows what the property could
look like after 48.8% of the area is mined and partially re-
claimed. Please note that reclamation is running concurrent with
mining to reduce the amount of disturbance at any one time.
Because of the nature of the material a dredge is the most
efficient way to remove this type of material. A central pivot
point for the dredge will be located on the Plant Site area, this
point is where the pipe from the dredge reaches the lake shore.
The extracted materials will be moved to the PlantSite via an
enclosed pipe that is part of the dredge. It then passes over a
screen to separate the material from the water. The water and
minus 200 fines are returned to the excavation area via a pipe.
Approximately 2% ( -200) of the material is returned to the pond
in the dredge water. The pivot point may change as mining pro-
gresses, in the beginning it will be on the east side of the
Plant Site. As mining works south it may be relocated to the Plant
Sites southeast corner.
Once the dredge and dredge boat are floating, mining will
proceed to the east. The mining face will then turn south and
the east -west face will be worked south towards the Edwards -Gill
8
