3.0 Specific Reclamation Activities and Results
3.1 Phase I Areas
As shown on Exhibit 1, each area requested for bond release is comprised of smaller
units, which correspond to the specific year that backfilling and grading was
performed. The work completed includes regrading to the approved post- mining
topography and installation of post- mining drainage channels in required areas.
Grading and topsoil replacement is generally performed in the summer and fall
months. See Table 1- Summary of Reclamation Activities for an overview of the
worked performed for each reclaimed area.
The reclaimed areas have been regraded consistent with the approved post- mining
topography (See Map 19, Permit C -81 -019 for the approved post- mining topography)
and follow all criteria set forth for Phase I bond release by the Division. Please refer
to Exhibit 2A and 2B for seven (7) representative cross - sections of the regraded areas
in relation to the approved post- mining topography. Two of the seven cross - sections
have been components of the Annual Reclamation and Hydrology Report, and have
been subject to various reviews and approvals by the Division and the third through
seventh have been added to provide a representative cross - section of the West and
East Pit respectively. The cross - sections indicate that the Phase I areas fall within
the Division's guidelines of a maximum variance of 1/2 of a contour from the approved
post- mining topography and are well within acceptable mining practice.
Permanent and temporary channels have been established in the Phase I areas, in
accordance with the approved sediment control plan located in Permit C -81 -019.
These channels are identified in Exhibit 1 and cross - sections of the constructed
ditches are located in Exhibit 3A, 3B, and 3C.
