I• proposed mitigative measures will be submitted to the ONG by June T of each year.
The rill and gully stabilization plan will be implemented after July t of each year and
completed by November t or until weather conditions restrict operations.
Revegetation Monitoring
Monitoring of revegetated areas will consist of both qualitative evaluations and quantitative
measurements. Qualitative evaluations will be carried out at least annually during the first
two growing seasons, while quantitative measurements and evaluations will be on a more
periodic basis.
Qualitative evaluations will consist of visual observations of newly seeded areas in order to
evaluate seeding success, locate areas of excessive rilling and gullying, determine the
success of applied reclamation practices and identify potential noxious weed problems.
Qualitative evaluations may extend past the first several years for areas of new rill and
gully repair, areas of noxious weed control or areas requiring restricted interseeding or
reseeding.
Monitoring through quantitative measures will be conducted periodically on revegetated areas.
Periodic monitoring of reclaimed areas will be conducted in years 3 and 6. Reference area
sampling may be conducted coincidentally with revegetation monitoring. For purposes of this
discussion, quantitative sampling during the last two consecutive years of the extended
liability period is not considered as monitoring. The data and results from the
quantitative monitoring program will be provided to ONG by March 30 of the following year
as part of the Annual Reclamation Report.
Sampling Parameters. The following discussion details parameters to be sampled, sampling
methodologies, and sampling intensity for the revegetation monitoring program.
Cover. Cover data will include cover by species (both absolute and relative values),, total
vegetative cover, and cover values for litter, rock, and bare ground. Mosses and lichens
wilt be included, if present.
• Production. Production data will be collected as total herbaceous. in some cases where
additional information is desired, production will be collected by herbaceous growth forms.
9
