Confirmatory drilling was performed at Underground Working #4074 using two track mounted drill
rigs. A drill pattern was set out by an AMEC field representative. Eighteen holes were drilled
encountering six voids. An approximate total of 900 linear feet was drilled. As -built survey of the
drill holes was performed by Ames.
Confirmatory drilling was performed at Underground Working #4077 using two track mounted drill
rigs. A drill pattern was set out by an AMEC field representative. Twelve holes were drilled
encountering zero voids. An approximate total of 600 linear feet was drilled. As -built survey of the
drill holes was performed by Ames.
Grouting of missed (non -void) confirmatory drill holes was performed at Underground Working
#4074. A grout pump and laborers were used to place bentonite grout into the "miss" drill holes.
Q Remediation
Underground Working #4078 was investigated using a CAT 330 excavator and observation was
performed by an AMEC field representative. Excavation of the area was performed and it was
found to be a shallow surface working. The native material was found to be consistent and all
signs of a significant working were removed. The working was backfilled by placing small lifts and
bucket tamping until access for a CAT 563 vibratory smooth drum compactor was achieved. The
material was then placed in 18" to 24" lifts. Each lift was moisture conditioned using a tandem
axle water truck (when necessary) and compacted using a 10 -ton vibratory smooth drum
compactor, passing over the entire fill surface at least 4 times (method compaction technique was
applicable). An AMEC field representative observed the remediation of the underground working.
Underground Working #4079 was investigated using a CAT 330 excavator and observation was
performed by an AMEC field representative. Excavation of the area was performed and it was
found to be a stope running parallel with overburden fill lifts, into the slope. Remediation will be
performed when fill progression allows access.
D) Structures
No work performed during the week.
III) Geosynthetics
A) Geomembrane Installation
No work performed during the week.
B) Anchor Trench
No work performed during the week.
MEW Weekly Report WE 04.21.2012
