Work activities were resumed at the start of dayshift Saturday (3/3/2012).
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES and PROGRESS:
I) Earthworks
A) Topsoil Stripping
No work performed during the week.
B) Clear and Grub
Seedmasters has temporarily demobilized from site. The majority of the clear and grub activities
is complete and the remaining portion will be performed when the overburden fill placement
progression allows for access to the area.
C) Subgrade Preparation
Subgrade preparation was performed prior to overburden fill placement in the areas shown on
Figure 1. Various CAT dozers were used to rip the existing surface to a depth of at least 6 inches.
Moisture conditioning of the subgrade was performed (when necessary) using a CAT 773 water
truck. Compaction was performed using a 10 -ton vibratory smooth drum compactor passing over
the entire subgrade surface at least four times. The subgrade was inspected and approved by an
AMEC field representative, prior to fill placement.
In most areas, excluding flat areas were fills are started, the subgrade is keyed into as the fill
progress. This is due to steep slopes that are adjacent to most fill areas. In this instance, the
subgrade is inspected for organics and debris by an AMEC field representative prior to fill
placement (keying into the subgrade).
MEW Weekly Report WE 03.03.2012
