W 11
LTM
tests were performed with results passing. Moisture - density relations were performed in
accordance with ASTM D698 -07.
A Hitachi 350 excavator was used to excavate the blasted material from Underground Working
#4029 and #4031.
Investigation and construction of an access road were performed at Underground Working #4044
using a Hitachi 350 excavator. The existing concrete cap was removed from the working. Caution
tape was placed around the shaft for safety.
Investigation and remediation of Underground Working #4050 was performed using a CAT 330
excavator to remove the timbers and rail that could possibly be an old narrow gauge rail bridge.
The timbers and any unsuitable materials were removed and hauled to a stockpile designated by
CC &V. The working was backfilled with structural fill in 18" to 24" lifts using various CAT dozers.
Each lift was moisture conditioned using a CAT 773 water truck (when necessary) and compacted
using a 10 -ton vibratory smooth drum compactor, passing over the entire fill surface at least 4
times (method compaction technique was applicable).
Investigation and remediation of Underground Working #4067 was performed using a CAT 330
excavator to remove the timbers and rail that could possibly be an old narrow gauge rail bridge.
The timbers and any unsuitable materials were removed and hauled to a stockpile designated by
CC &V.
D) Structures
Relocation of the structure at Underground Working #4043 (The Wedge) was finished by Frontier
Environmental Services Inc.
III) Geosynthetics
A) Geomembrane Installation
No work performed during the week.
B) Anchor Trench
No work performed during the week.
C) Geomembrane Exposure
No work performed during the week.
D) Geomembrane Acceptance
No work performed during the week.
IV)Storm Water Management
A) Best Management Practices (BMP)
Best Management Practices are being observed throughout the Mill Site Earthworks project.
MEW Weekly Report WE 02.25.2012
