subgrade is inspected for organics and debris by an AMEC field representative prior to fill
placement (keying into the subgrade).
D) Structural Fill Placement
A CAT 992 front -end loader was used to load structural fill material from a borrow area
designated by CC &V. The material was loaded into 40 -ton articulating haul trucks and hauled to
fill areas. The fill excavation was assisted by various CAT dozers.
Structural fill was placed in the areas shown on Figure 1. Structural fill was placed in 18" to 24"
lifts using various CAT dozers, keying into existing slopes when necessary. Each lift was moisture
conditioned using a tandem axle water truck (when necessary) and compacted using a 10 -ton
vibratory smooth drum compactor, passing over the entire fill surface at least 4 times (method
compaction technique was applicable).
Subgrade temperatures were monitored by an AMEC field representative prior to fill placement.
Fill material was not placed until the entire fill area was at or above 32 °F. Fill temperatures were
then monitored every hour during ambient temperatures below 32 °F. No frozen material was
placed during the week.
E) Slope Contouring
Slope contouring was performed in the fill areas that were close to finish grade. A Hitachi 350
excavator was used to performed the slope contouring. Any excess material generated was
pulled up into the structural fill placement in the area.
F) Soil Liner Fill (SLF)
No work performed during the week.
G) Drain Cover Fill (DCF)
Processing of Drain Cover Fill (DCF) was performed at the DCF process area using a CAT D -9
dozer during night shift. The processed material was hauled to a stockpile area, on Dump 4
designated by CC &V using 40 -ton articulating haul trucks. The stockpile pile was maintained
various CAT dozers.
Location
This Week
Cumulative
Comments
(tons)
(tons)
DCF Process
35,642
101,590
Total
35,642
101,590
II) Underground Mine Workings
A) Discovery
During topsoil stripping, an Underground Working was encountered. The working was given a
number (UG #4030) by an AMEC representative and surveyed by Ames. A Hitachi 350 excavator
was used to "clean out" the working.
During topsoil stripping, an Underground Working was encountered.
