subgrade is inspected for organics and debris by an AMEC field representative prior to fill
placement (keying into the subgrade).
D) Structural Fill Placement
A John Deere 850 excavator was used to excavate structural fill material from a borrow area
designated by CC &V. The fill excavation was assisted by various CAT dozers.
Structural fill was placed in the areas shown on Figure 1. Structural fill was placed in 18" to 24"
lifts using various CAT dozers, keying into existing slopes when necessary. Each lift was moisture
conditioned using a tandem axle water truck (when necessary) and compacted using a 10 -ton
vibratory smooth drum compactor, passing over the entire fill surface at least 4 times (method
compaction technique was applicable).
Subgrade temperatures were monitored by an AMEC field representative prior to fill placement.
Fill material was not placed until the entire fill area was at or above 32 °F. Fill temperatures were
then monitored every hour during ambient temperatures below 32 °F. No frozen material was
placed during the week.
E) Slope Contouring
No work performed during the week.
F) Soil Liner Fill (SLF)
No work performed during the shift.
G) Drain Cover Fill (DCF)
Processing of Drain Cover Fill (DCF) was not performed during the week.
Location
This Week
Cumulative
Comments
(tons)
(tons)
DCF Process
0
0
Total
0
0
II) Underground Mine Workings
A) Discovery
During excavation of structural fill for the site access road construction, an Underground Working
was encountered. The working was given a number (UG #4001) by an AMEC representative and
surveyed by Ames. A CAT 330 excavator was used to clean out the accessible portion of the
working. Confirmatory drilling will be performed later to identify the extent of the working.
B) Drilling
Confirmatory drilling was performed at Underground Working #4000. A drill pattern was set out by
an AMEC field representative. Thirty holes were drilled encountering four voids. An approximate
total of 1,500 lineal feet was drilled. As -built survey of the drill holes was performed by Ames.
Q Remediation
Underground Working #4002 was investigated using a CAT 330 excavator and observation was
performed by an AMEC field representative. The previously logged location was staked by the
MEW Weekly Report WE 12.24.2011
