Pineda <br />Director <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (Division) received your comments about Permit <br />Revision 7 at the Elk Creek Mine on August 6, 2012. Your comments were compiled into a single <br />document with other adequacy comments /questions from the Division and forwarded to the Elk <br />Creek Mine on August 7, 2012. <br />The Division received responses to the adequacy questions from Elk Creek Mine on August 20, <br />2012. The responses are attached to this letter. Comment Item #2 is Elk Creek's response to your <br />comments. <br />You may recall, the PR -7 application was submitted on to the Division on May 25, 2012 to <br />incorporate the Elk Creek East Federal Coal Lease COC -70615 into the permit. <br />The Elk Creek Mine is an underground coal mining operation located approximately 0 miles North <br />of Somerset, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: <br />Township 12 South, Range 90 West, 6th PM - all or parts of Sections 29 - 32 Township 12 South, <br />Range 91 West, 6th PM - all or parts of Sections 25 - 27 and 34 - 36 Township 13 South, Range 89 <br />West, 6th PM - all or parts of Sections 6 and 7 Township 13 South, Range 90 West, 6th PM - all or <br />parts of Sections 1 - 12 and 17 Township 13 South, Range 91 West, 6th PM - all or parts of <br />Sections 1 - 3 and 11 - 13 <br />The above - mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Somerset. <br />Office of Office of <br />Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines <br />
