Plant Cover. Total plant cover on this site averaged 92.13 percent and litter averaged 6.74
percent (Appendix Table 2.04.10 -15, Intensively Managed Irrigated Pasture - Plant Cover.)
1,Perennial grasses dominated the plant cover on this site, contributing 56.33 percent of the total
I e 1 ,t- cover or 61.36 percent of the total relative cover on this site. Perennial forbs contributed 34.33
6 percent of the total cover and contributed 37.27 percent of the total relative cover on this site.
a
Z r Noxious weeds contributed 1.27 percent or 1.37 percent of the total relative cover on this site.
A s s 6 ' No annuals or biennials were encountered in the plant cover sampling on this site.
r G k„ Tall Fescue, an introduced planted pasture grass, was the dominant plant species growing on this
,yo- ( 1 , ' site, contributing 39.29 percent of the total relative cover on this site. Alfalfa, Orchard Grass,
G ? Alsike Clover, and Kentucky Bluegrass were the other dominant species on this site, contributing
\` r s 21.27, 10.34, 9.48 and 6.95 percent, respectively, of the total relative cover on this area.
G• 1
The locations of the 15 cover transects sampled on this site are shown on Map 2.04.10 -1, -
Permit Area Vegetation Map. The sample adequacy calculations in Appendix Table 2.04.10 -2,
New Horizon North Mine Area - Sample Adequacy Calculations, document that the number of
samples required to describe the parameter of total plant cover on this site at the 90 percent
confidence interval was 0.3 transects.
Production. The results obtained from the 30 production transects sampled on this site are
presented in Appendix Table 2.04.10 -16, Intensively Managed Irrigated Pasture - Production.
The average total production on this site was determined to equal 179.21 g/1 /4m or 6,387.0
pounds of air -dry forage per acre. Perennial grasses contributed an average of 102.33 g/1 /4m or
57.10 percent of the total herbaceous forage production. Perennial forbs, contributed an average
of 76.88 g/1/4m or 42.90 percent of the total herbaceous production.
Appendix Table 2.04.10 -2, Sample Adequacy Calculations, documents that forage production on
this site at the 90 percent confidence interval was determined to equal 4.1 transects. The
locations of the 30 production transects are shown on Map 2.04.10 -1, Permit Area Vegetation
Map.
Shrub Density. As documented in Appendix Table 2.04.10 -17, Intensively Managed Irrigated
Pasture - Shrub Density, there were no shrubs or woody plants encountered in the sampling of
the fifteen cover transects. The average shrub density on this site is zero and as shown in
Appendix Table 2.04.10 -2, Vegetation Sample Adequacy Calculations, sample adequacy at the
90 percent confidence interval was achieved at zero transects.
WETLAND
This vegetation type is primarily located in the bottoms of the drainages which flow across this
site, such as Chiles Draw, located on the northwestern portion of the site, Meehan Draw which
flows across the north - central portion of the property and on other areas that receive irrigation
Section 2.04.10
Page 17 November 2011
