ci
i
, I Sampling of this same property are found in Appendix 2.04.10B. Application of the historical
1 record approach as a revegetation success standard for this vegetation and land use type yields
the following results: Average total plant cover in 2009 was 94.00 percent, in 2010 was 95.33
rL i percent and in 2011 was 92.13 percent. The average total plant cover from the three monitoring
I I periods was 93.82 percent. Ninety percent of this value equals 84.44 percent total plant cover.
s I Thus, at the time of final bond release the total plant cover revegetation success standard for the
< Intensively Managed Irrigated Pasture type will be 84.44 percent total plant cover.
Production. The results obtained from the sampling of 50 production transects on this area are
summarized in Appendix Table 2.04.10 -4, NH1 Reclamation - Production. The average total
herbaceous forage production equaled 23.70 g/1 /4 m or 845.0 pounds of air dry -dry forage per
acre. Perennial grasses contributed 23.11 g/1/4 m or 97.47 percent of the herbaceous forage.
Perennial forbs, contributed 0.60 g/1 /4 m or 2.53 percent of the herbaceous forage production.
The locations of the 50 production transects sampled on this site are shown on Map 2.04.10 -1,
Permit Area Vegetation Map. The sample adequacy calculations in Appendix Table 2.04.10 -2,
New Horizon North Mine Area - Sample Adequacy Calculations, document that the number of
samples required to describe this site at the 90 percent confidence interval was 60.4 transects.
r The results obtained from the June 2010 sampling of the Garvey Property Intensively Managed
Irrigated Pasture are found in Appendix 2.04.10A, and the results obtained from the June 2011
Sampling of this same property are found in Appendix 2.04.10B. Application of the historical
record approach as a revegetation success standard for this vegetation and land use type yields
the following results: Desirable plant production in 2009 averaged 6,909.7 pounds of air -dry
forage per acre; in 2010 it was 5,998.9 pounds of air -dry forage per acre, and in 2011
averaged.6,587 pounds of desirable air -dry forage per acre The average desirable air -dry forage
production from the three monitoring periods was 6,498.5 pounds of desirable air -dry forage per
1 acre. Ninety percent of this value equals 5,848.7 pounds of desirable air -dry forage per acre.
Thus, at the time of final bond release the desirable forage production revegetation success
standard for the Intensively Managed Irrigated Pasture type will be 5,848.7 pounds of desirable
air -dry forage per acre.
Shrub Density. The shrub density counts obtained from the 15 belt transects sampled in this
area are summarized in Appendix Table 2.04.10 -5, NH1 Reclamation Area - Shrub Density. The
average shrub density was determined to equal 5.20 shrubs per one hundred square meters or
210.4 shrubs per acre. Fourwing Saltbush, Rubber Rabbitbrush and Smooth Sumac were the only
shrubs encountered.
The locations of the 15 shrub density transects sampled on the NH1 Reclamation predisturbance
area are shown on Map 2.04.10 -1, Permit Area Vegetation Map. Examination of the sample
adequacy calculations in Appendix Table 2.04.10 -2, New Horizon North Mine Area - Sample
Adequacy Calculations, reveals the number of samples required to describe the shrub density on
this area at the 90 percent confidence interval was 307.2 transects.
Section 2.04.10 Page 11 November 2011
