Other
participants included Tony Tennyson and Kurt Blunt of Colowyo, Christy Hulsman of OSM, and Jennifer Maiolo
of BLM (morning only). The ground was dry. The weather was hot; no precipitation was experienced.
BACKFILL and GRADING — Rule 4.14:
To check the as -built reclamation in SL -06 areas, several points were checked with GPS technology (Trimble Pro
XRT). The maps included in the inspection report shoe the locations of the data points, which fall into four
categories:
• Data points on cross sections from the SL -06 application (see Exhibits in application).
• Data points along drainages.
• Data points in smaller areas where there are no cross sections or drainages (e.g., EP055, WP012 /013).
• Data points at small ponds (a.k.a. stock tanks) in the East Pit.
The tables in the report show the elevations of the data. Compared to elevations in the exhibits in the application,
the elevations are consistently off approximately 50 feet. This is possibly due to a collection or differential
correction error. It could also reflect the fact that the final grading does not match approved topography. This will
be further investigated during the adequacy review for the SL -06 application and discussed in the findings.
Possibly a follow -up inspection will be performed to address this issue.
An area of hummocks was observed in EPO46. They are well vegetated and appear stable. The area is
approximately half an acre (a blue polygon around this area is included on the map for the East Pit and was
measured with GPS to be 0.54 acre).
FISH and WILDLIFE — Rule 4.18:
In EPO46 area several sage grouse were seen.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 2
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 0
Page 2 of 14
