INTENSIVELY MANAGED IRRIGATED PASTURE.
The years sampling results from this site are presented in the following discussion.
Plant Cover. Total plant cover on this site in 2011 averaged 94.00 percent and litter averaged
6.00 percent (Appendix Table 2.04.10B -1, Garvey Property 2011 - Intensively Managed
Irrigated Pasture - Plant Cover.)
Perennial grasses dominated the plant cover on this site, contributing 72.33 percent of the total
cover or 76.95 percent of the total relative cover on this site. Perennial forbs contributed 20.80
percent of the total cover and contributed 22.13 percent of the total relative cover on this site.
Noxious weeds contributed 0.80 percent or 0.85 percent of the total relative cover on this site.
Annuals/biennials, contributed 0.07 percent of the total cover or 0.07 percent of the total relative
cover on this site (Appendix Table 2.04.10B -1, Garvey Property 2011 - Intensively Managed
Irrigated Pasture - Plant Cover.)
Tall Fescue, an introduced pasture grass, was the dominant plant species growing on this site,
contributing 55.82 percent of the total relative cover on this site. Alsike Clover, Kentucky
Bluegrass, Alfalfa, and Strawberry Clover, and were the other dominant species on this site,
contributing 7.80, 7.59, 6.95 and 6.74 percent, respectively, of the total relative cover on this
area (Appendix Table 2.04.10B -1, Garvey Property 2011 - Intensively Managed Irrigated
Pasture - Plant Cover.) .
The locations of the 15 cover transects sampled on this site are shown on Appendix Map
2.04.10 -6, Garvey Property 2011 - Intensively Managed Irrigated Pasture - Vegetation Transect
Map. The sample adequacy calculations reveal that the number of samples required to describe
the parameter of total plant cover on this site at the 90 percent confidence interval was 0.2
transects.
When this site was sampled in 2009, total plant cover on this site averaged 92.13 percent and
litter averaged 6.74 percent. In the 2010 sampling, total plant cover averaged 95.33 percent and
litter averaged 4.47 percent.
Perennial grasses dominated the plant cover on this site in 2009, contributing 56.33 percent of
the total cover or 61.36 percent of the total relative cover on this site. In the 2010 sampling,
perennial grasses contributed 69.67 percent of the total cover or 73.09 percent of the total
relative cover on this site. In 2009, perennial forbs contributed 34.33 percent of the total cover
and contributed 37.27 percent of the total relative cover on this site. In 2010, perennial forbs
contributed 22.67 percent of the total cover and contributed 23.77 percent of the total relative
cover on this site. Noxious weeds in 2009, contributed 1.27 percent or 1.37 percent of the total
relative cover on this site. While in the 2010 sampling, noxious weeds contributed 3.00 percent
or 3.14 percent of the total relative cover on this site. No annuals or biennials, were encountered
in the plant cover sampling on this site in 2009 or 2010. .
Tall Fescue, was the dominant plant species growing on this site in all three sample periods,
contributing 39.29 percent of the total relative cover on this site in 2009, 48.96 percent of the
total relative cover on this site in 2010 and 55.82 percent of the total relative cover on this site in
2011.
Production. The results obtained from the 30 production transects sampled on this site in 2011
6
