TAILINGS POND RECLAMATION
BORROW AREA
Approximately 30 , 000 cubic yards of overburden will be required
to cover Tailings Pond #2 . The overburden will be obtained from
the proposed borrow area northeast of Tailings Pond #4 . This
proposed borrow area is adjacent to and, in places, overlaps the
borrow area approved in Technical Revision Number Nine. Hauling
will be facilitated by constructing a haul road from the borrow
area to Pond #2 . Both the haul road and the borrow area are
completely within the current permit boundaries.
Prior to overburden excavation the topsoil overlying the borrow
area will be stripped and stockpiled adjacently for later use in
reclaiming the borrow area . The topsoil will be broadcast with
seed following stockpiling. The slopes of the borrow area will
be on the order of 2: 1 to 2 . 5 : 1 and shall be designed to blend as
well as possible with the surrounding contours . The diversion
ditch above the area will prevent large amounts of water from
encountering either the topsoil stockpile or the borrow area.
Reclamation of the borrow area is to include distribution of the
stockpiled topsoil on the area, fertilizing, and seeding with
"Mountain Mix". Reclamation of the haul road will include
reshaping, fertilizing, and seeding with "Mountain Mix". The
borrow area and the haul road will not be reclaimed immediately
following reclamation of Pond #2 since they will most likely be
used in conjunction with other projects .
-4-
