RE: Request for Technical Assistance in Reviewing TR-19,
American Tunnel, Permit No. M-7 .78.
DMG Durango field office received application for TR-19 for the American Tunnel on
5/6/96. The plan includes temporary diversion of waters from Cement Creek through the
existing water treatment facility and injection of high alkaline waters into the mine pool of
the underground workings. Bruce Humphries has directed me to provide copy of TR-19
to you for review prior to approval. Bruce also indicated that Harry Posey and Berhan
Keffelew should be included in the review process. I have left messages with Harry and
Berhan, informing them of TR-19.
Request for technical assistance is limited to the mine pool alkaline injection issue.
Durango office will review the Cement Creek diversion and bonding issues.
Decision due date is 6/5/96.
