Allen Sorenson
Colorado Department of Natural Resources
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman Street, Room 423 NCO
Denver , CO 8P1203-227
RE: File No. M-7 -378
San Juan County
Dear Mr . Sorenson:
As discussed with you and previously with Larry Oehler of the
Division, Sunnyside Gold Corporation (SGC) intends to move the
remaining Lead Carbonate tailings from the American Tunnel
permitted area to Tailings Pond #4f--'- SGC removed the tailings
located on the south side of the South Fork of Cement Creek during
the fall of 1991 to Tailings Pond #1 but did not remove the
tailings located on the north side of the South Fork of Cement
Creek. This work was approved in TR-11 . Subsequently, Tailings
Pond #1 has been reclaimed and the remaining Lead Carbonate
tailings cannot be hauled there but Tailings Pond #4 has been
designated the site for disposal of reclamation cleanup material as
approved in TR-12. Consequently, SGC believes that all approvals
required for removal of the remaining Lead Carbonate tailings to
Tailings Pond #4 are in place based on these approvals and the fact
that consolidating these tailings with those in Tailings Pond #4 is
basically the same as placing them in Tailings Pond #1 for
compatibility and is consistent with Tailings Pond #4 ' s designated
usage for reclamation cleanup material and as a tailings pond.
If you have any questions please contact me.
Sincerely,
Larry Perino
Superintendent-Technical Services
LP/cjm
