This report covers the
period from July 1, 2000 through September 30, 2000.
Terry Tunnel Bulkhead
The Terry Tunnel bulkhead was inspected on August 11, 2000 and August 24, 2000.
During these inspections, pressure gage readings were taken (39-40 psi). A sample was
also taken from the pool behind the bulkhead for field parameters during the August 11`h
inspection (results included with report). Field parameters were not taken during the
August 24th inspection because water was actively being pumped from the surface
settling ponds through the bulkhead pipe at the time of inspection to maintain a no
discharge status. Pumping occurred intermittently through July and August to maintain
the no discharge status. The quantities pumped are included with this report. On August
24`", the bulkhead pipe was permanently grouted shut, in preparation for placement of a
near surface bulkhead to eliminate flows to surface through the tunnel and allow final
closure and reclamation of the Terry Tunnel site.
Inspection of the bulkhead and immediate tunnel area did not reveal any reason for
concern or give any indication that the bulkhead is not performing as designed.
