The applicant
shall be responsible for compliance with this plan, but the State Engineer's Office may also pursue
the landowner for eventual compliance. The required fee of $257 (receipt no. 3653808) has been
submitted. The original SWSP was approved on June 17, 2009 and it was most recently approved in a
letter dated January 9, 2012.
Plan Operation
This plan seeks to replace depletions resulting from mining operations at the West Farm Pit.
The depletions from the mining operation are evaporation, water lost in the mined product, and dust
suppression. The mine is located in Prowers County in the S1/2 of the SE1 /4 of Section 28 and the
NE1 /4 and the NW1 /4 of Section 33, Township 22 South, Range 46 West of the 6 P.M. Mining has
not commenced at this site, however, GP Aggregates would like to keep the SWSP current as
mining could begin in 2012. This SWSP will provide for the replacement of the projected depletions
of 30.8 acre -feet from May 1, 2012 through April 30, 2013 (or April 2014 subject to condition no. 1).
The replacements will be made using 38 shares of the Lower Arkansas Water Management
Association.
The West Farm Gravel Pit will be dry mined with the use of dewatering trenches and a
discharge settling pond. The length of the dewatering trenches will change throughout mining, but
the maximum will occur when two phases are completely mined but reclamation has not yet begun
on any given phase. The maximum size of the dewatering trench will be 4,350 feet long and 5 feet
wide (0.5 acre). The discharge settling pond will be 50 feet by 100 feet (0.11 acres) for a maximum
total exposed surface area of the site during mining to be 0.61 acres.
