Flora: The area near the creek is vegetated by dense tall grasses, sage and <br />- mountain rnohoaarly: the slopes have stands of qambel oak and thick MOUntain miahogary- <br />The rid top vegetation consists of open meadows veqetatïż½b dense. tall sage and tall <br />grasses. <br />20, Soils/Geology: The underlying geology in the area includes the Williams Fork <br />Formation consisting of sandstone, shale and major coal beds and the Iles Formation matte <br />UP Of sandstane and shale. The Trout Creek Sandstone Member is at the tolp of the Iles <br />f=ormation with coal beds in the upper half (Tweto 1979). Seri - nents consist at brown silly <br />to clayey loam with abundant sandstone and siltstone gravels. <br />21. Ground Visibitity: Ground visibility was fair to poor, ranging between 10 and -40%, <br />due to very thick vecletation. Special attention was paid to animal [rails, eroded and <br />deflated areas, back dirt from rodent burrows and any other area where better Surface <br />yisibjfty or a better view of subsurface potential was available. <br />22. Previous Survey Activity - In the project area: No previous surveys have been <br />conducted in the current proiect area. <br />In the general region: Three previous inventories were conducted in the surrounding <br />area: a seisrnic pl in 2003 (Metcalf 2003; OAHP # RT.MR4): all inventory of drill <br />locations in 2011 (Metcalf 2011. OAHP 9 RT.LM.NR151) and an 80-acre parcel for drill <br />sites ard yvaLer and power !Ines fMetcalf 2012. OAHP9 RT.LM,R107). All three projects <br />were conducted by MAC for Twentymile Coal Company. <br />25. Known Cultural Resources - In the project area: No cultural resources have been <br />org,viously documented within the current project boundary. <br />
