condition. The old historic road has been totally destroyed therefore, lacks integrity, be it
design, materials, workmanship, feeling, or association. No artifacts or features were noted
within the recorded segment. There is no potential that additional research would produce
significant information concerning this segment. of toad.
5RT3132.1 is recommended as not eligible for the NRHP based on its lack of integrity.
Based on the above, this site does not satisfy Criterion A, B, C, or D, and is field evaluated as not
eligible for inclusion on the NRHP. No further work is recommended.
Isolated Finds
5RT3134 is a prehistoric isolated find (IF) consisting of a one handed. mono. It is an oval
shaped cobble that measurers 13 x 8 x 6cm, has been pecked around the entire perimeter, with
heavier peeking on the two ends. Some grinding is evident on both faces. It is located. Oil gently
east sloping terrain west of Fish Creels, and sets about 71u west of the 6ni High road cart west of
CR 37. Soils are a dark brown clayey loam and supports a vegetation cover of sagebmsh,
grasses and fortis. Surface visibility is around M %. Evidence of an old fence line (fallen down
cedar fence posts) crosses north -south through the area, and the surface for this fence lisle had
been somewhat leveled for construction. No anther artifacts were observed in the area of the
rnano, in the disturbed ground for the fence lime, nor in the cut bank leading dowji to CR 37. The
terrain east of CR 37 was also investigated for cultural material with the thought that if a site
were present prior to CR 37 construction artifacts might exist in this area. Nothing was observed
in this area either. There is little potential for additional intact buried. This isolated find is
recommended as not eligible to the NRHR
Evaluation of Research and Management Recommendations
The project resLilted in the discovery of a segment of historic road (5RT3132.1) and one
prehistoric isolated find (5RT3134). Previous work in the area indicates that there was some
potential for the discovery of both historic and prehistoric resources. Within this region, it was
felt that areas near drainages were the most likely to contain significant cultural materials_
Additionally, ridge tops would have been a preferred location for prehistoric usage. The project
consisted of an 80 acre block situated can terrain that varied fronl steeplt to moderately sloping,
with a large portion having been plowed and replanted with agricultural grasses (CRP). The
slope of the terrain and CRP work would limit the potential for significant discoveries. The
results for this study -were consistent with expectations prior to fieldwork.
Both the site and the isolate are located within the APE for this project and have been
field. evaluated as trot eligible for inclusion on the NRHP and no further work is recommended.
Cultural resource clearance is recornniended for the entire project as depicted in Figure 1.
7
