No company representative accompanied me on the inspection. The
mine site inspection was conducted on 8 August 2012 and the records were checked on 9 August 2012. The mine
has been reclaimed and all but approximately 4.1 acres of disturbance have been granted a Phase III Bond Release.
The weather was warm and sunny and the ground was dry.
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS — Rule 5.02.4(1):
All of the necessary records were in the Garfield County Courthouse, located in Glenwood Springs, CO. They were each discharging at a
rate of approximately 5 gpm. There was considerable iron staining at the point of discharge. This staining became
less prominent farther down the pond. The pond embankments were well vegetated and stable and no erosional
problems were noted.
- Treatment ponds T -1 and T -2 were both full at the time of the inspection. Pond T -1 was discharging into pond
T -2 and pond T -2 was discharging into permanent sediment pond P -9. All of the discharge was routed into P -9
(none of the discharge was flowing into the permanent refuse pile pond or North Thompson Creek). Pond P -9 was
pretty full, with approximately four feet of capacity remaining before the pond will discharge. The pond
embankments at the treatment ponds were well vegetated and stable and no erosional problems were noted.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 0
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 2 of 10
