reference area. The location was on a steep northerly facing slope and was dense with oak brush and other
species. We were unable to locate stakes or posts on the other 3 corners of the reference area.
37. "Why is there 33.87% Western Wheatgrass and not more Intermediate and Crested Wheatgrass based on the
seed mix and water requirements. Was the seed plan followed ?"
Answer: Janet E- mailed to Ms. Saunders on July 21, 2011; After 30 years of reclamation experience the
Division has recognized the aggressive behavior of Crested Wheatgrass and Intermediate Wheatgrass.
Although we do still allow small amounts of these two introduced species in seed mixes, establishment of
large amounts of these two species is generally not the desired goal. Based on Annual reclamation reports,
yes, the approved seed mix was seeded on the Vento property.
38." Does the Division COUnty ARTCAN and [sic] CHRNAU in the shrub stems and %cover requirement? That is all
we have. For clarification, we need to confirm that the portal reference plot mentioned in your email of 6/11/11 is
the reference plot "B" on the 11/10/89 vegetation survey map.
Answer: Reference Plot B is shown on Map 16
2. When have vegetation surveys been done on this property and can we have copies of those reports and
the results?
Answer: The 2010 interim vegetation monitoring reports were sent to Ms. Saunders on June 17, 2011,
and provided Ms. Saunders detailed intrustins on how she can access the files on the Division's website.
3. Why should a reference plot area that was designated 30 years ago (1980), be changed with only two
years left in the revegetation period?
Answer: See the detailed explanation of item No. 15 above.
4.
