STANDARD METALS CORPORATION
P.O. Box 247
Silverton, Colorado 81433
(303) 387-5533
RECEIVED
August 30, 1983
SEP 61983
Mr. Dave Shelton MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
Mined Land Reclamation Division io Colo. Dept of Natural Resources
Colorado Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street Room 423
Denver, Colorado 80203
Dear Dave:
I wish to take this opportunity to appologize for the misunderstanding which
occurred during a recent visit by your reclamation specialists, Beavers and
Stanton. Please do not interpret this incident as representing a change in
our posture toward mined land reclamation or our relationship with the MLRB.
As you may well understand we are quite sensitive about mill area security
resulting from several major thefts which have occurred over the course of the
past two years. In an attempt to prevent future similar occurrences we have
substantially tightened our mill perimeter security and admission procedures.
As always our facilities are completely open to you and your employees in both
an offical and unoffical sense. We do, however, request that whenever any MLRB
agent would like to visit any of our facilities that they first stop by the main
office located at the corner of 13th and Snowden Streets in Silverton to advise
us of their presence and to obtain a visitors pass which will facilitate their
entry onto the property past the guard gate.
Again I appologize:'fo r the recent incident and look forward to a continued good
relations—hip with a MLRB.
Sincerely,
ly
Greg Sparks
General Manager
